Most of the films we feature on DN arrive out of the blue as completed pieces, but there are a few directors who have been with us for long enough that we get to peak at their projects from the earliest stages of gestation and watch them grow into fully fledged films. Brek Taylor and Elizabeth Mitchell’s debut feature Island is such a film, so I’m particularly pleased to welcome Brek and Elizabeth back to discuss battling the credit crunch, book options and the weather in order to bring Island to the big screen.

If it’s the thing that you wrote a 20 page set of directors notes/essay on, then you had better be pretty certain that you know how you’re going to make that work.
