A random tweet from @buzzfilms led me to a promo by JUL & MAT, which led me to another and another and another. All of which I enjoyed and have prompted my theft of the Twitter #musicmonday meme for DN (at least this week, if not from now on).
Although varied in execution and style, I would say the binding element of the JUL & MAT promos is well thought out simplicity; the ideas behind the work may not be complicated or overly difficult to achieve, but they’re carried out with a playful precision that draws you in. I’m in no mood to choose, so I’ve posted my three favourites. You can also read the Young Director Award interview with the pair – can’t believe no one’s signed them yet.

MarBelle has a strange compulsion to watch as many films as he can get his hands on and find jobs that give him a legitimate excuse to drill filmmakers about their work. Directors Notes is the latest incarnation of this disorder and so much cheaper than film school. Twitter: @MarBelle
