Much more so than Christmas, the August bank holiday is a time of great joy in DN towers as we pack up a mighty fine, hand picked selection of some of the finest filmic delights to have hit our pages over the proceeding 12 months and head out into both the North and South of England for a long weekend of cinematic giving in the cinema tents of the Reading and Leeds music festivals.
As always, El Vez and I have, with the much appreciated input of team OFVM, put together an eclectic mix of music videos, dramas, comedies and animation, all of which we’re ridiculously proud to have DN associated with. It’s one thing grabbing embed code and throwing up a post, but when directors trust us to take their films out into the world to screen in a new arena for a different audience, we are well and truly humbled, so a massive thanks to all of you.
If you’re planning to be on either festival site this weekend be sure to take a look at the various screening times by expanding the posters above and you can also find more details about the Cinema Tent on the official Reading and Leeds festival websites. We’ll be onsite at Reading all weekend so feel free to give us a shout at – @WeAreDN, @MarBelle or @kung_fuelvis – if you want to let us know what you thought of the films or just fancy saying hi in person. If a trip to either of the festivals isn’t on the cards we’ve got you covered – dim the lights, sit back and enjoy this curated playlist of the fine films we’ll be screening this weekend:
MarBelle has a strange compulsion to watch as many films as he can get his hands on and find jobs that give him a legitimate excuse to drill filmmakers about their work. Directors Notes is the latest incarnation of this disorder and so much cheaper than film school. Twitter: @MarBelle
