Anyone who’s emerged bruised and batter after a confrontation with Maths will relate to the lead of Giovanni Munari and Dalila Rovazzani’s Experimental Film Center graduation film Arithmétique, as he’s dragged into a threatening world of careening numbers by a malevolent old man intoning Ravel’s Opera The Child and the Spells.
You can get a look at storyboards, background plates and help the team fund their next animation Bluebeard by buying t-shirts over on the Arithmétique blog.
MarBelle has a strange compulsion to watch as many films as he can get his hands on and find jobs that give him a legitimate excuse to drill filmmakers about their work. Directors Notes is the latest incarnation of this disorder and so much cheaper than film school. Twitter: @MarBelle
