After watching Galen Summer’s well observed documentary Pointe Shoes from his series of films for the New York City Ballet, you’ll understand that it wasn’t the physical manifestation of a fractured mind, but rather an essential ritual all ballerinas go through and part of an important relationship they have with their oft unseen ‘makers’ throughout their careers.
