Director Renaud Hallee’s first venture into animation, Sonar, has been described as a perfect example of ‘how to listen to music with your eyes’. This week Renaud takes us through the process of getting to grips with animation by painstakingly hand synchronising notes to images.

I told myself, I’m not gonna go into high end eye candy. I’m gonna keep it simple and minimalistic and it’s just gonna be part of the beauty of the film.
