Miranda July did it first. She stole a song I really wanted to use in one of my films. I mean really wanted to use Spiritualized’s cover of The Troggs’ Anyway That You Want Me which sound-tracked the wonderful Me And You And Everyone We Know. Now Noah Baumbach has done it. Anyone who knows me knows I regard All My Friends by LCD Soundsystem as the greatest song ever written and I wanted to be the first to bring it to celluloid audiences. Alas, I won’t be.
The trailer for Noah Baumbach’s latest film Greenberg starring Ben Stiller uses it. Am I annoyed? A little. But I’ll get over it because it’s Noah Baumbach. He made The Squid And The Whale and Margot at the Wedding and writes with Wes Anderson. It’s going to be one of the films of the year.
Hear the full version of this incredible song on it’s own after the jump.
