Another good point, it is truly amazing how much we can learn from Troy Duffy’s mistakes and the man really didn’t treat his friends, or family, well at all. Your comment about how they the edited film is also spot on, I believe this documentary probably started off as a positive idea by Troy and friends, to document the ‘greatness’ of Troy Duffy and his venture into the world of the feature film. However, as Troy quickly seemed to forget how much power a film-maker has, he totally overlooked the possibility this documentary could be edited in a way which wouldn’t show him in the greatest light and ultimately, this is what happened.

To be honest, when writing this piece about Mr Duffy, I just didn’t know where to start with the man and once I had started, I didn’t know where to stop. There’s just so much to say about his approach to life and the film industry, but most importantly, we have to look at how to avoid the same pitfalls he fell into.

One day soon, I will actually get round to watching his feature The Boondock Saints and then can maybe comment on this on the site. Although, I have to say, I’m not holding out much hope for them film.

You are right, dear. The only thing I would add is: Treat your friends well. In the film, Troy told two friends who partially rescued his band’s record deal that they didn’t deserve any money. Then, he admitted that they did deserve money but won’t be getting any. Unfortunately, those two friends were also filming a documentary about him. I’m sure Troy’s cruelty played some small part in how they edited “Overnight”.
